Water: A source of health and well-being…
Water affects our health in many ways. Here are just a few:
carries and distributes nutrients throughout our body (through the blood)
- eliminates waste through our kidneys and intestines
- softens the skin
- lubricates our joints
- helps maintain electrolytic balance within cells
- cools the body by bringing heat to the skin's surface allowing it to evaporate
Healthy hydration helps prevent fatigue and reduces lumbar and joint pain. It also relieves migraine, allergies and hypertension.
No wonder medical experts encourage us to drink eight glasses of water - pure and clean, if possible - a day.
... and enhanced productivity
Access to an abundance of good-quality drinking water has a positive effect on productivity. It helps prevent dehydration which affects the whole body, particularly the brain. In fact, poor concentration is one of the first signs of dehydration.
Nobody really disputes the benefits of water - given the water you drink is safe. However, if it's contaminated with chemicals or micro-organisms, water can have adverve effects on your health.
So the question is - particularly at work where we spend most of our waking hours: which water is safe to drink?
